To buy a coffee truck in Ohio, prioritize a compliant build, reliable power, and fast path to licensing so you can open quickly and pass inspection the first time. Start with a chassis in the 10,000–14,000 GVWR range you can insure and park, then spec a 50A electrical panel, inverter generator (e.g., EU7000), and shore power, plus 220V for the espresso machine, water filtration, and 30–40 gal fresh/grey tanks with heat tape for winterization. Choose NSF equipment, a three-compartment sink and hand sink, FRP walls, and, if cooking grease, a Type I hood with fire suppression; espresso-only Ohio coffee trucks typically need no grease hood but do need LP system placards and a pressure test. Before purchase, request build photos, wiring schematics, GFCI locations, LP leak test, and weigh ticket; verify VIN, title, and Ohio BMV registration path. Budget $75k–$150k; compare used vs new coffee truck for sale, lead times, and financing (SBA microloan, equipment lease). Form an LLC, obtain an Ohio vendor’s license, secure a commissary, submit a plan review to your county Ohio health department for a Mobile Food Service Operation license, then schedule fire inspection. Target campuses, hospitals, and plants for morning routes and plan cold-weather startups.
